Kelsea Ballerini’s Cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘You Were Always on My Mind’ Is a Great Ode
Kelsea Ballerini took to the Elvis All-Star Tribute stage on Sunday (Feb. 17) to perform her rendition of the King's classic "You Were Always on My Mind."
Ballerini donned a glittery silver and white suit jacket dress for the performance, along with a bright and giddy smile. She introduced the song by noting, "I grew up in Tennessee an Elvis Presley fan. From the time he was a kid in Tupelo, Miss. right until the end, country music was always on Elvis Presley's mind. Elvis recorded 'On My Mind' back in 1972, 10 years before Willie Nelson took it to the top of the country charts. I feel so proud to sing it tonight as we all remember the incredible Elvis Presley."
The original song was recorded by B.J. Thomas in 1969. Nelson re-recorded the song after Presley in 1982.
Also on hand to perform Presley classics for the tribute included Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Pistol Annies, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Alessia Cara, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, John Fogerty, Mac Davis, and Adam Lambert.
