Kix Brooks Producing and Acting in Two New Films
As if Kix Brooks hasn't proved how talented he is already, he's now stepping further into the world of film. The country star has revealed that he's co-created Vaquero Entertainment, along with his son Eric and friends William Shockley, Dustin Rikert and John Kuelbs, to produce and release two new films.
You're Gonna Miss Me is available now and stars John Schneider of The Dukes of Hazzard fame, Leo Howard, Justin Deely and more in a film about two estranged brothers who must come together to go on a life-changing motorcycle ride in honor of their late father, fictional country singer Colt Montana (Schneider), taking them across the country on numerous adventures. Along the way, the brothers meet their relatives, including "crazy" Uncle Elmer, portrayed by Brooks.
Country Singers Who Have Tried Acting
“I originally was just going to work in the producer capacity, but they wrote a part in here about crazy Uncle Elmer … and I could not resist,” Brooks tells the Tennessean. “The movie is this adventure that ensues. It’s a pretty fun story.”
The singer is also in the process of working on a film currently titled Gone Country for the Hallmark Channel. “It’s another coming of life story," the country star explains. "It’s interesting to work with Hallmark because they have their formula and the way they do things. But we have a history of making pretty decent movies for not a lot of money, and they like that.”
Brooks' prior film experience includes roles in Born Wild, Ambush at Dark Canyon, To Appomattox and more, but the singer isn't giving up his guitar for the silver screen full-time anytime soon. He's still performing alongside longtime Brooks & Dunn partner Ronnie Dunn and their close friend Reba McEntire at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas during their 2017 Together in Vegas residency through December.
