Little Jimmy Dickens Hospitalized in Critical Condition
The family of Grand Ole Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens are asking fans around the world for their prayers as the country music icon battles an undisclosed illness in a Nashville-area hospital.
Dickens turned 94 years old on Dec. 19, and performed at the Opry -- where he has been a member since 1948 -- as part of his own birthday celebration on Dec. 20. According to a news release from the Opry, Dickens has been hospitalized since Christmas Day. He is currently in critical condition.
Known for his diminutive stature and sense of humor, Dickens has scored such classic songs as 'Take an Old Cold Tater (And Wait),' 'Country Boy,' 'Out Behind the Barn,' and 'May the Bird of Paradise Fly up Your Nose.' He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983.
Fans wanting to send cards and well wishes to the ailing star can send them in care of the Opry at the address below.
