Man Killed Leaving Jason Aldean Concert
A 33-year-old Pennsylvania man was struck by a car and killed as he was leaving a Jason Aldean concert on Sunday (Aug. 25). Police say Michael Sanders of Dunmore, Pa. was leaving the show at Montage Mountain when he was hit by an Jeep.
Scranton police arrested 23-year-old Ivy Giordano of Union Dale, Pa. on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that she was driving the 2007 Jeep that hit Sanders around 9:50PM ET. He died 40 minutes later at Geisinger Community Medical Center. The charges against Giordano are still pending the results of a blood test.
The accident on Montage Mountain Rd. backed up traffic for hours, forcing many to abandon their cars and walk to shuttles waiting at the bottom of the mountain. WNEP-TV reports that the last car didn't leave the outdoor venue until after 3AM ET.
Thomas Rhett and Jake Owen opened the concert for Aldean. The singer is off the road until Sept. 5, when he plays the first of three straight shows in Florida.
