Maren Morris Slams Slut-Shamer + Twitter Goes Boom!
Maren Morris' unfiltered replies to internet bullies makes signing up for Twitter worth it. The country singer is proving she's not here for the unsolicited criticism on her clothing choices or her appearance.
"Honestly, I'm over the slut-shaming that goes on here," Morris wrote recently on Twitter. "I'm a self-sufficient woman who loves her body. Get over it, thanks."
More than 7,000 people liked the tweet in the first 24 hours, which is about four times more action than on a run-of-the-mill tweet from the rising star. Close to 300 fans have retweeted her clap-back, which was made in response to criticism for outfits she wore on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and during a concert at Madison Square Garden. Brothers Osborne, Maddie & Tae and RaeLynn wholeheartedly threw their support behind Morris.
In the nearly two years since Morris released her debut single she's proved unafraid to speak her mind on social media or elsewhere. In April she spoke up about some of the obstacles women in country music face that men do not. On several occasions she's been vocal about social issues with the emotion and focus often missing from the typical round of artist reactions.
This year Morris has been on Sam Hunt's 15 in a 30 Tour while working on her second studio album. She's also engaged to singer Ryan Hurd (pictured above). As you can see, he might be her biggest fan.
