Montgomery Gentry's "Better Me" lyric video is the duo's first posthumous video release since the tragic death of Troy Gentry, one-half of the once captivating country duo.

Gentry died in a helicopter crash on Sept. 8, but surviving member of the duo, Eddie Montgomery (Montgomery was not involved in the crash), is carrying on in honor of his friend and longtime music partner.

"Better Me" was previously unveiled at the close of Gentry's public celebration of life at Nashville's Grand Old Opry House in September, to an array of family, friends and fans. The song, released via the duo's label Average Joes Entertainment,  is a heartfelt ode to self-improvement.

Country Singers and Fans Mourn Troy Gentry

"I might cuss and fight, tell a few lies / Break a few rules, making promises I can't keep / But I've turned the page on wilder days / I'm running all this down hoping you'll see / I ain't saying I'm perfect, but I'm working on a better me," they sing.

The song was supposed to be part of a Montgomery Gentry project released in 2018, but the circumstances have changed not only the fate of the album, but the path for Montgomery and his future in country music.

The "Better Me" lyric video also serves as a tribute to Gentry, displaying photos of the country star's life, alongside his loved ones.
