Nicole Kidman appeared on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on Tuesday night (Jan. 6), and the interview rapidly took an awkward -- but hilarious -- personal turn.

Fallon starts out innocently enough by recounting the first time the pair met a decade ago, when he was on 'Saturday Night Live' and Kidman was filming 'Bewitched.' A mutual friend arranged for them to meet at Fallon's apartment, which Fallon apparently believed was to talk about the possibility of him appearing in 'Bewitched.' But as Kidman recalls, she was interested in him for a much more personal reason.

"I just remember I liked you," she tells the stunned host. "I'm single, and I'm like, 'Yeah, cool.' So I go over, and you're there in a baseball cap, and you wouldn't talk -- you didn't say anything. And then you put a video game on or something, and I'm like, 'This is so bad.'"

As the embarrassed Fallon writhes in astonishment, she continues, "After about an hour and a half, I thought, 'He has no interest -- this is so embarrassing.' And then I left, and went, 'Okay, no chemistry -- and then I was like, 'Maybe he's gay!'"

Fallon -- who was clearly surprised to learn he had unknowingly blown a chance to date Kidman -- says, 'Wow, did you make a good decision ... you made a much better decision. Keith Urban is so much cooler than I am. He's a rock star, you live in Nashville now ... but he's always on tour, isn't he?"

In a humorous last-ditch effort to win back Kidman's affections, Fallon points out, "Here's the deal: I'm not always on tour. I'm always at home."

As the conversation turns to Urban's recent New Year's Eve gig  at Niagara Falls, Fallon says, "You're starting to feel a little something -- starting to feel a little chemistry. But it's too late, baby!" he exclaims. "Ship has sailed, okay Nicole? I'm taken, okay? I am taken," he finishes, holding up his wedding ring as Kidman laughingly says, "I am never coming on this show again."

Despite the awkward detour, Kidman's appearance was actually to promote her new movie, 'Paddington,' which is set for release on Jan. 16. She and Urban shared an adorable kiss in the rain at the premiere. See pics here.
