No. 5: Patsy Cline, ‘Crazy’ – Top 100 Country Songs
Patsy Cline's 'Crazy' is the top song from a female artist on the Top 100 Country Songs list. It's difficult to argue this masterpiece's place on the list, or any list of the top songs ever recorded. The song was Cline's signature hit, but really it's one of country music's signature hits.
Willie Nelson wrote this song shortly after moving to Nashville. The one-day superstar hadn't made a name for himself at the time, and Cline struggled with his original demo for the song. However, she eventually cut the beautiful version we know today, taking it to No. 2 on the country charts in 1961.
