Reba McEntire Speaks Out to Assure Fans That She’s Not Dead
It quickly became clear that rumors of Reba McEntire's death were part of a hoax, but it's still a relief to have the singer herself available to assure fans that everything is OK. McEntire took to her Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon to try to explain the hoax.
"There is a rumor going around that I died after falling off a mountain in Austria yesterday while shooting a movie," the famous redhead writes. "While I would love to be shooting a movie in Austria, I definitely did not fall off a mountain! Nor am I dead! I am alive and kicking!!! Most of you know this already because I've been giving you daily accounts of Shelby's race. Oh well. Have a great day."
As previously reported, rumors began circulating late Monday night about an accident in Austria that left Reba dead. The "report" said she fell to her death at 4:30AM Austrian time, which would be some time Sunday night in America. McEntire did indeed tweet about her son Shelby's race at 1:41PM ET on Monday, so unless heaven has a wifi connection, fans should have known better, which most did.
The fine print beneath the original post on the rumor site made it clear that the hoax was untrue, though the text was easily overlooked. "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE!" the disclaimer reads. An eery twist to this story is that McEntire will soon be heading in the direction of Austria. Her official website lists shows in Switzerland and Germany in early March.
