The countdown is officially on for Reba McEntire's return to scripted television. She's set to star in a new NBC sitcom called Happy's Place, and we now know exactly when the show will premiere.

According to a statement from NBC on the social media platform X, Happy's Place will kick off on Oct. 18. It'll be available to watch on NBC and stream on Peacock.

Happy's Place will be a reunion of sorts: Several of the producers who worked on McEntire's beloved 2000s sitcom Reba have signed on to work on the new show. Melissa Peterman — who played the role of Barbra Jean Hart in Reba — will also co-star in the new show.

Also on the cast list for Happy's Place is McEntire's real-life boyfriend Rex Linn. The couple have acted together multiple times in the past: In fact, they first met on the set of the Kenny Rogers movie The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw in 1991, though they wouldn't start dating until nearly three decades later. They've also appeared onscreen together in Young Sheldon and the ABC drama Big Sky.

What Is Reba McEntire's New Sitcom About?

  • Happy's Place finds McEntire playing a woman named Bobbie, who inherits a restaurant from her father.
  • She soon discovers a half-sister (played by Belissa Escobedo) whom she never knew she had.
  • The pair become unlikely business partners.
  • In real life, McEntire is 69 to Escobedo's 25, so expect plenty of generational gap humor.

Offscreen, McEntire knows a little something about owning a restaurant. She opened her own bar and restaurant, called Reba's Place, in Atoka, Okla., in 2023.

McEntire's return to the world of sitcom stardom comes in tandem with her fall 2024 return as a coach on The Voice. It'll be her third consecutive season as a coach on the televised singing competition, which — like Happy's Place — airs on NBC.
