Rodney Atkins' infectious "Caught Up in the Country" is his first single in four years. It features the Fisk Jubilee Singers and talks about the best parts of country living: being outdoors with endless dirt roads, surrounded by countless stars in the sky.

"Somewhere where the road ends / Out there where the creek bends / That's where you can find me / With them fields of gold and cotton rows / That never ending sky / I take it slow and easy roaming this life / Caught up in the country," Atkins sings on a catchy chorus.

Penned by Connie Harrington, Jordan Schmidt and Mike Walker, "Caught Up in the Country" has Atkins returning to his roots with foot-stomping rhythms, programmed drum beats and his distinct vocals. The Fisk Jubilee Singers add soul that entices the listener to sing along. It recalls "Take a Back Road" in subject matter, but Atkins' new single proves he's willing to take a risk in a new musical direction with production-forward thinking.

“Listening to the Fisk Jubilee Singers with their hand clapping and foot stomping music is really a spiritual experience,” Atkins says. "When I heard ‘Caught Up in the Country’ I just felt like the two things had to come together. It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve recorded or released before and that also excites me."

Did You Know? Atkins welcomed his second child, Ryder Falcon, into the world in December of 2017. He is married to fellow country singer Rose Falcon.

Rodney Atkins' "Caught Up in the Country" Lyrics:

Square bales, flatbeds / Clothesline sunsets / Sky blue, barn red / Wind chimes, front porch / Good dogs, wood floors / Work boots, open doors / And miles and miles of John Deere green / Freedom far as I can see / A road to run and room to breathe / That's who I am and I'll always be

Chorus:

Caught up in the country / The only way I wanna be / Somewhere where the road ends / Out there where the creek bends / That's where you can find me / With them fields of gold and cotton rows / That never ending sky / I take it slow and easy roaming this life / Caught up in the country

Just look at 'em stars / Must be a billion of 'em / Just doing they thing / Right where God put 'em / If this ain't heaven it's halfway there / You can feel it in the air

Chorus

Caught up in the country / I was brought up in it / Caught up in the country / Oh and good Lord willin' / If I had it my way / I'll stay / Caught up in it, caught up in it

Repeat Chorus

Caught up in the country / Caught up in the country
