Scotty McCreery Ties Clay Aiken’s ‘American Idol’ Album Record
Scotty McCreery won over viewers during Season 10 of American Idol and the "Five More Minutes" singer's continued success now ties him with longtime AI favorite Clay Aiken for most Top 10 albums from a male contestant on the show. This week, McCreery lands his fifth Top 10 album with Seasons Change, as the album entered the Billboard 200 at No 7.
McCreery’s top 10 albums include his first three studio albums, Clear as Day, See You Tonight and Seasons Change; a Christmas album, Christmas with Scotty McCreery; and an EP, American Idol Season 10 Highlights: Scotty McCreery.
Aiken has also amassed five Top 10 albums. He hit the Top 10 with his first four studio albums as well as a Christmas album. Aiken was the runner-up during Season 2 of American Idol. He congratulated McCreery on Twitter upon the news of their tied accomplishments.
Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert are close behind with four and three Top 10 albums, respectively. Ruben Studdard, David Cook and Phillip Phillips each have two.
McCreery's Seasons Change debuted on Billboard's Top Country Albums at No. 1 this week. The success marks McCreery’s third No. 1 country album.
“It’s been quite a journey these last few years, and to learn that Seasons Change has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart is awesome and so gratifying,” McCreery says of the album's success. "I’m glad everyone is enjoying the new music. I am so thankful to my fans, who have always been so supportive. With a No. 1 album, my first-ever No. 1 single, and my upcoming wedding to the love of my life, I just don’t see how 2018 can get any better!"
