Scotty McCreery’s ‘The Trouble With Girls’ Snags USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2012 CMT Music Awards
The Band Perry came on stage at the 2012 CMT Music Awards tonight before their performance to present the award for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year. Before they announced the big winner, Neil Perry gave viewers a taste of his vocals when he sang the chorus of the Doors' 'Break on Through to the Other Side.' Although all of the nominees have had a great year, one country singer stuck out -- and the audience was quite happy with the winner.
After his great success on 'American Idol' last year, Scotty McCreery has had a breakthrough year in 2012. Tonight was the icing on the cake of his rising success, when the country singer won the award for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for 'The Trouble With Girls.'
McCreery jumped up when his name was announced and immediately hugged his sister. The crowd erupted in such loud applause for the soon-to-be college freshman that he seemed overwhelmed when the Band Perry handed him his gold buckle.
