Steven Tyler is hitting the road for his long-awaited solo tour. The Aerosmith frontman has announced his Out on a Limb Tour, which will feature backing band Loving Mary.

The 19-city tour will feature Tyler in an intimate concert setting where he'll put a new spin on classic Aerosmith songs and tell the stories behind them, as well as debut songs off his forthcoming country project.

“What would I not pay to go see [Paul] McCartney, but instead of playing with whoever he’s with now, actually do [a show] where he tells you what he was thinking when he wrote “Yesterday”?” Tyler tells USA Today. “That’s what I’m doing. I figured I’d talk about 'Sweet Emotion' and 'Dream On' and where I was when I wrote it, and 'Seasons of Wither' and how I played it.”

Tyler says he's looking forward to playing with Nashville-based Loving Mary.

"It really is beautiful getting out there and singing with a band, where I can look at all the guys and go, 'Stop playing right now' and we'll just sing a cappella," he explains. "I've never been in a band like that, so it's a whole new thing for me."

While he fully admits he doesn't expect his solo career to "hit like the Beatles or be the second coming of Aerosmith," he says it was important for him to follow his muse.

"I'm such a passionate person that if I don't go after my muse like that, I'll wind up on drugs again," Tyler confesses. "I'll wind up arguing with people and just no good."

While on the road, Tyler will make a stop in Detroit Lakes, Minn. to take the stage at WE Fest 2016.
