As it turns out, Mother Nature isn't playing nice lately at certain outdoor festivals. including Country Thunder in Canada's Craven, Saskatchewan Saturday night (Jul. 13). A severe thunderstorm brought in rain, thunder, winds—and a truly gorgeous (if dangerous) lightning show that Tim McGraw, who was forced to cancel his set, captured and shared with fans.

"Sorry we were unable to come out last night due to the storms," McGraw posted. "Hope everyone made it home safe!" As a little treat, McGraw added a video of the spectacular electric sky, making it even better with a little impromptu performance of Alabama's 1983 "Lady Down on Love." It's downright eerie to watch the singer and his band calmly deliver the song, while the sky lights up ominously like fireworks behind them.

While the scary weather resulted in evacuation for Saturday night, Sunday's show went on as planned, with Saturday passes honored, so fans could enjoy headliner Chris Stapleton. The festival will next be heading to Twin Lakes, Wis. on July 18.

Aside from his musical endeavors, McGraw has just released a book, Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest and the Music That Made a Nation, written alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian Jon MeachamThe book analyzes music that was created during politically fraught times in history from both a musician's and a historian's points of view. He will also be releasing a health and lifestyle book, titled Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life, in the fall. That book will detail the story of his weight loss and move to a healthier lifestyle. It will be available on Nov. 5 at select retailers and online.
