In 1972, country singer Tom T. Hall had a memorable conversation with an elderly janitor at a Miami airport hotel. The man dreamily recounted his memories of 'Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine.'

Hall recorded this addition to the Top 100 Country Songs for his 1972 album 'The Storyteller.' The song hit No. 1 on the country singles chart and spent a total of 13 weeks on the chart. Hall was known as 'The Storyteller' thanks to his knack for spinning a good yarn. 'Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine' is a perfect example of Hall's ability to recount a special moment.
