Trace Adkins will soon be coming to a theater near you. He just snagged a role in an upcoming film titled I Can Only Imagine, about the story behind the Christian mega-hit by the same title as well as the life of its writer, Bart Millard of the band MercyMe.

Also starring Dennis Quaid and Cloris Leachman, the project is slated to release in the spring of 2018. It’s directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin, who also directed Adkins in the film Moms’ Night Out. Adkins recently shared a photo on Instagram of himself and Quaid together on set of of the film.

“I Can Only Imagine,” released in 2001, is the most-played song on Christian radio of all time, Deadline reports, and the first Christian song to have ever reached 2x Platinum status from the RIAA, having sold more than 2 million digital downloads.

In the meantime, Adkins will be working on his new record, Something’s Going On, which is slated to be released on March 31, 2017. It’s his 12th studio album overall, but his first one in four years. The album brings with it a run of new tour dates as well, which kick off Feb. 4 in Orlando. The first official single, “Watered Down,” will be released March 13, but previous singles “Lit” and “Jesus and Jones” also appear on the album.

“When I first heard ‘Watered Down’ I felt an immediate connection with what I wanted to say,” Adkins said in a release about the upcoming single. “A man comes to a point in his life where he begins to reflect on his past and what he’s learned and that’s what fueled this song. If you’ve led the kind of life I’ve led, at some point you have to temper your vices.”
