Trace Adkins should win the "stiff upper lip" award for keeping himself composed during his performance of 'Just Fishin'' on ABC's 'CMA Music Festival' special on Sunday night. The song, about a father's bond with his young daughter, had no doubt taken on new meaning to Adkins on that night last June. The footage was shot less than a week after his Nashville home burned down.

Adkins looked as strong and confident as ever throughout the performance, however. Few can transition between emotional ballads and sensational rock numbers quite like he can. Toward the end of the song, he shared how important it was to go out of one's way to make memories with sons and daughters. Fishing was one of his fondest memories with his father and grandfather, he said.

Earlier this month, Adkins released his new album 'Proud to Be Here' and has since appeared on numerous television shows including the 'Today' show on NBC and 'Chelsea Lately' on the E! Network. He's barely had time to grieve and put his life in Nashville back together. A busy touring schedule has him on the West Coast much of this month.
