Trace Adkins Reflects in ‘Watered Down’ Video
Trace Adkins is turning over a new leaf in his "Watered Down" music video. The clip shows him going about his life much differently than he would have in his younger days.
The mornings begin clearer, with a big cup of coffee before he heads out to do chores on his farm. After the work is finished, instead of heading to the local bar for a drink, Adkins now orders a coffee. While eyeing the liquor on the shelf in front of him, he smiles to himself as he remembers how times used to be.
“I don’t go all in, but I’ll take a gamble / And I don’t burn both ends of the candle anymore,” he sings in "Watered Down."
Written by Matt Jenkins, Old Dominion's Trevor Rosen and Shane McAnally, "Watered Down" is the first single from Adkins' new Something’s Going On album.
At a recent industry event in Nashville where he performed the new song live, Adkins admitted that upon first hearing "Watered Down," he instantly realized that it's his "current state in a nutshell; that’s where I’m at right now.'”
“At some point, you face the reality that you have to temper your vices, you have to calm your ship down,” Adkins added. “And I’m still crazy, but I’m just going to temper it a little bit, and that’s what this song said.”
Something’s Going On was released on March 31.
