Brantley Gilbert says his baby boy was born on his tour bus last weekend because nobody figured he was coming so soon.

The "Over When We're Sober" singer opened up about stopping his show to help his wife Amber give birth and then returning to play for fans in Tupelo, Miss. on Friday night (Oct. 11). The couple were prepared, but not necessarily ready.

  • Abram Howell Gilbert is Brantley Gilbert and wife Amber's third child, after son Barrett and daughter Braylen.
  • During an interview with Taste of Country, he admitted this pregnancy was a surprise.
  • Talking to Fox & Friends, he revealed the couple had a midwife on the road with them, just in case.

"She had a great night the night before so we thought we had a week left," Gilbert says. "We didn’t."

Amber is seated with Brantley for the interview and she recalls going from reading a book to "I have to get this baby out" in a matter of minutes. The midwife was summoned and then Gilbert was pulled from the stage with news of an emergency backstage.

The couple had considered this as possible but not seriously. In fact, Gilbert joked that he was going to raise his baby up on stage like Mufasa does Simba in The Lion King. Instead, he delievered so quick that he had time to make an emotional phone call to mom and finish his set.

Gilbert's tour manager let him know he could finish if he went out there in the next 15 minutes. "At first (Amber) said, ‘really?’ And then she just had this look for understanding," he says.

Gilbert admitted to Fox News that he found out Amber was pregnant on that tour bus and the couple have lived a lot of life on that set of wheels. There's nothing that indicates mother and son are anything but fine. She says their two older kids love their new brother already.
