Exclusive: ‘American Idol’ Alum Cade Foehner Announces First Headlining Tour
Cade Foehner is preparing to hit the road on his first-ever headlining tour, and the American Idol alumnus is sharing the dates and details exclusively with Taste of Country.
Foehner will kick off his 2019 Southern Hallelujah Tour on May 30 in Baton Rouge, La., and it runs through June 28, when it wraps in Bossier City, La. The tour is to promote Foehner's latest single, "Southern Hallelujah," as well as songs from the upcoming EP he plans to release in the fall. He's looking forward to sharing those songs with his live audiences before they go to radio or streaming platforms.
"I think it is really important to show the live audiences they are special beyond words because they are the ground troops for this music," Foehner tells us. "They take off work, get all their friends there and it just levels me every time. I want them to know I see it, and I appreciate it."
Foehner and fellow Idol Top 5 finalist Gabby Barrett revealed that they were dating during the course of Season 16, and the couple announced their engagement in March. He says his upcoming songs reflect his Texas roots, his faith and their relationship.

"I’ve been working relentlessly on a body of work to release with several different great writers in Nashville. These songs are odes to everything back home where I grew up," he states. "I love writing about things that can take me right back to that pasture and piece of woods I used to play in as a kid, the church I grew up in and what it means to be a Christian man. Of course, all of these songs are laced with stories about my darlin’ soon to be wife, Mrs. Foehner. She is my dream and my vision. I want to love her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her."
Barrett has also recently released a new single, and Foehner admits their busy schedules make planning their upcoming wedding a challenge. Especially since he's from Texas and she's from Pennsylvania.
"We will get random weeks where we don’t have anything going on and one of us immediately gets a flight to Texas or up north. Luckily both of our managers are very good to us and understand this special season of life we are in so with the wedding planning, we both told them we needed that week to be free," he shares.
"Even with that settled away, it is still a task and a half to put this together with both of our families being from different states. Gabby is such a hard working woman, she is going at everything 110 miles an hour yet still makes me feel like I’m her main concern and priority. I could never deserve such a blessing from the Lord, but I suppose that is the point!"
Foehner was the resident rocker on Idol during Season 16, making it all the way to the Top 5 before he was voted off after a performance of Carrie Underwood's "Undo It." It's important to the 22-year-old to serve as a mentor to young up-and-coming acts, and he is bringing along some fresh young talent as support acts on his tour. Florida based brother-and-sister country act Juna N Joey and Nashville based country sister duo Lexanna will both open for portions of Foehner's Southern Hallelujah Tour.
