With the CMA Awards behind us, the Country Music Association has its sights set on the 2012 CMA Music Festival, which will take place in Nashville in June -- and Carrie Underwood once again will play a prominent role. The singer and CMA co-host is the first scheduled performer for a nightly concert at LP Field.

The festival opens on June 7 and wraps up on June 10. Once again, the event will be filmed for use on ABC later next summer. Dozens of artists typically make up the LP Field lineup, including the biggest names in country music.

"Normally we do not announce talent until early in the next year, but we wanted to be sure everyone knew that Carrie has already committed to perform at 2012 CMA Music Festival," CMA Chief Executive Officer Steve Moore said in a press release. "She continues to be one of our most requested artists, and we knew the fans would want to be aware so they could go ahead and make plans to attend our event."

Tickets for the LP Field shows are on sale through Ticketmaster, and they range from $115-325 depending on what level of seating one chooses. CMAFest.com is the official website for the summer festival, now in its 40th year. Half of the proceeds of the festival support music through education through a partnership with Keep the Music Playing.
