Chase Bryant’s ‘Room to Breathe’ Video Brings Out His Stealthy Side
You can call him Bryant ... Chase Bryant. Bryant decided that for his "Room to Breathe" video, the sultry sound called for a very specific character inspiration: none other than James Bond.
And he nailed it. The video captures a stealthy, sexy vibe Bryant puts off from the first frame, in which he’s gagged and looks to have been tortured by the seductress standing next to him. From there, we seem to go back in time to the events leading up to the scene.
“Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with James Bond movies," Bryant says. "I was on the bus one night watching Casino Royale and I thought, 'How cool would it be to recreate the style of this movie and the attitude of James Bond into a music video?' ‘Room to Breathe’ is a seductive sort of song about never wanting to leave a girl. I wanted to do something different and push the limits with this music video."
Bryant goes all out to channel Bond — the martinis, the casino, the tux — and pulls it off well. He continues the mini-film walking into a club with a woman by his side while the enemy from before watches every move from afar. The duo narrowly escapes the villain, peeling out in a muscle car and ending up on a bridge, thinking they’re safe. Unfortunately, she catches up, captures Bryant and we see again the scene from before.
Enough mystery is woven throughout that fans won’t necessarily be able to decipher what got Bryant into this mess to begin with, but true spies are always making enemies — and always manage to get away.
Bryant is gearing up to release his first full-length record. The singer-songwriter says it’s going to be an honest representation of who he is — but that getting it right has been tough.
“You only have one first time and I don’t want to blow it, so I’m trying to get the record correct,” he tells Taste of Country. “I’m playing some new stuff out live and finding what works. Then there’s the ones that I just have that feeling: ‘I know this is going to work, trust me.’ I’m tailoring my records around what I think I’ve learned in the past couple years of touring and finding out who I am."
No release date has been set for the album.
