Chris Janson’s Stripped-Down ‘Drunk Girl’ Strikes a Chord [Watch]

Chris Janson released his poignant new single "Drunk Girl" to radio on Monday (Dec. 11) and it quickly became the most-added song by a male artist this week.

In addition, he has released a powerful black and white video that complements the song by letting its lyrics shine in a stripped-down version that finds Janson alone on piano in the recording studio. Written by Janson, Tom Douglas, and Scooter Carusoe, "Drunk Girl" tells the tale of a man taking a drunk girl home in hopes of protecting her from herself.

"Take a drunk girl home / Let her sleep all alone / Leave her keys on the counter, your number by the phone / Pick up her life she threw on the floor / Leave the hall lights on, walk out and lock the door," he sings.

Janson previously told Taste of Country that he wrote the song hoping that it's how a man would treat his two daughters if they were ever in a similar situation. "It's certainly a compelling track in the regard that it was written from a father's perspective. If my daughter were ever in that situation, the song is how I hope a young man would treat my daughter," he says.

The song follows the success of Janson's second No. 1 single, "Fix a Drink," from his latest album Everybody. “Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of positive love,” Janson said in a press release. “From the stories you’ve shared with me in person to the emails to the comments on social media — it’s incredible. ‘Drunk Girl’ is a very special song.”
