Chris Stapleton Invites Friend Justin Timberlake to Collaborate at CMA Awards
Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake have been admirers of one another's music for years, and this Wednesday (Nov. 4), the two will share the stage at the 2015 CMA Awards.
According to a press release from the CMA, one of the many "can't-miss moments" of the awards will include a collaboration between three-time nominee Stapleton and Timberlake.
"I called him up, he and I have known each other for a few years now and talk on occasion," Stapleton tells Taste of Country live from the CMA Awards pre-events. "It looked like maybe we were going to have some nominations, and I thought maybe we could have a slot to play. I called him up and asked if he would be interested in doing it. He was kind enough to accommodate me and here we are, we're gonna play the CMAs."
Timberlake proves he is just as much a fan of Stapleton as the country singer is of him, having tweeted about him last year:
Stapleton is nominated in three CMA Awards categories: Male Vocalist, New Artist, and Album of the Year for Traveller, which he co-produced with Dave Cobb. The 49th Annual CMA Awards is hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and airs on ABC on Nov. 4, live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
