Chris Young Stops Singing to Congratulate Couple After Proposal in the Crowd [Watch]
Love seems to be in the air among country fans, as couples take the opportunity to utilize a serenade from their favorite artist to pop the question, first with Lee Brice and now with Chris Young.
One lucky lady had no idea what was coming while she slow danced with her boyfriend during Young’s set at Washington’s Watershed Festival. The man mouthed the words to the romantic “Who I Am With You” to his future bride, all the while hiding a ring box behind her back. Soon, onlookers caught on to what was happening and watched with knowing smiles until the man held up the ring box to show the crowd what he was about to do. The secret was revealed when the girlfriend noticed the ring box, and she immediately started crying.
“Did she say yes?” Young yelled over the crowd from the stage, having figured out what was going on and stopped singing.
The man got down on one knee and his now-fiancée put on the ring as the surrounding fans erupted in cheers.
“Congratulations!” Young continued, smiling. "God bless you."
Young went on to finish the song as the newly-engaged couple enjoyed their first few moments as fiancés.
The artist has been selling out shows around the country this summer, including his recent performance at Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, Calif., which brought in more than 8,000 fans. He’s slated to launch his I’m Comin’ Over tour on Oct. 22 in Savannah, Ga., with Eric Paslay and Clare Dunn. His new album of the same name will also impact this fall.
