Chris Young may have played to a sold out crowd at LP Field as a part of 2015's CMA Music Fest on Saturday night (June 13), but that doesn't mean he forgot how he got there, more particularly the people that got him there.

The "I'm Comin' Over," singer teamed up with the Farmers Insurance Thank America's Teachers initiative to reward his former Siegel High School music teacher, Brenda Gregory, with a grant to support classroom funds. Young interrupted Gregory while she was giving a music lesson at Fan Fair X to present her with a $2,500 thank you.

"She is so deserving," Young tells People. "Ms. Gregory has always been supportive of my musical side, both in and outside of school. I'm glad I had a chance to help recognize all her hard work."

The singer adds that Gregory was responsible for some of his fondest memories, including getting the chance to perform with his high school's choir overseas in London.

After having to cancel last year's LP Field performance due to an unfortunate kitchen accident that landed him in the hospital, he was back and better than ever for this year's show. He truly did live by his music teacher's words of wisdom of "Work Hard. Be Patient."

Young will be playing shows and festivals throughout the summer before he heads overseas in September to continue the second leg of his 2015 world tour. He recently released his new single "I'm Comin' Over," as well as a steamy new video for the song.
