Cody Johnson’s ‘With You I Am’ Comes From the Heart [Exclusive Premiere]
Cody Johnson's "With You I Am" lyric video combines two things he's passionate about. Fans get a glimpse of the energetic singer's live show during a song that finds him loving on his wife of eight years. Watch the video during this exclusive premiere on Taste of Country.
When it comes to writing love songs, the Texan says: "All I really have to do is think about her if I want inspiration." Johnson's wife was driving the car he was in while talking to Taste of Country. The couple were squeezing out a few precious moments together on their way to Houston for a Wounded Warrior Project event. In 2015 he spent 250 days on the road, which makes being a dedicated family man a challenge.

“We work extra hard even if it just means six extra hours together,” he assures.
"With You I Am" is one man's story of how his lover makes him the man he wants to be. Trent Willmon and David Lee helped him pen the song — the first taste of his new Gotta Be Me album, out Aug. 5.
“Strong as an oak, but soft like leather / High as a pine and light as a feather / The same old boy but a whole lot better / Whenever you’re holding my hand / I used to poke fun at them punch-drunk lovers / Never thought I’d be that man / But with you I am.”
Expect an album that's true to Johnson's roots, he says, which means plenty of country mixed with rock, blues, gospel and bluegrass. His parents will once again join him for a collaboration at the end. He says Gotta Be Me is remarkable for its versatility.
“If I’m not true to myself, I feel like a hypocrite."
