RCA Nashville’s release of the original motion picture soundtrack to 'Country Strong' spiked in sales since the movie hit theaters nationwide last week, landing at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and No. 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200.  With sales in excess of 28,000 albums last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the soundtrack has soared following the excitement surrounding the release of the feature film, which stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund.

In the film, Paltrow plays the role of country music singer Kelly Canter. The theme song, 'Country Strong,' sung by Paltrow, has already been creating a buzz since its release, but has entered the Top 30 singles chart this week. The digital single for 'Country Strong' also more than doubled its prior week sales, with more than 32,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

All four film stars contribute songs to the original soundtrack, with one song each from Hedlund and Meester.  Paltrow sings four tracks on the album, including 'Country Strong' and a duet with McGraw on the song 'Me And Tennessee.'

In addition to the film stars, soundtrack artists include Trace Adkins, Ronnie Dunn, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Patty Loveless, Hank Williams, Jr., Lee Ann Womack and Chris Young.

Hank Jr.'s song on the soundtrack was penned by two-thirds of Nashville's hottest writing teams, the Peach Pickers -- Dallas Davidson and Rhett Akins. Scoring a cut by Bocephus has been a dream come true for the writers, who feel the song fits the singer perfectly. "This song can be summed up in three words," Adkins tells Taste of Country about 'Thirsty': "Ready ... aim ... drink!"
