Following the height of his Hootie and the Blowfish days, Darius Rucker took the country music path -- and it led him right to the 'CMA Music Festival' special. The iconic singer appeared on stage during tonight's 'CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock' special to give fans his hit single, 'This.'

Donning his recognizable black cap, Rucker kept it low-key in a black t-shirt and jeans, as he wasn't expecting to walk the red carpet at the big Nashville fest. Fans sang along cheerfully with his loving-life hit song, and truthfully, Rucker seemed to be soaking in the theme: Every little trip-and-fall leads to a bigger podium to stand tall on.

Rucker's 2010 'Charleston, SC 1966' album peaked at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
