Garth Brooks Announces Free Show at SXSW 2017
During a Friday press conference at South by Southwest, Garth Brooks announced a free show slated for Saturday night (March 18) in Austin, Texas. But there's a catch for outsiders.
The concert is for Austin residents, with priorities to certain zip codes. Tickets are necessary for admission and available at the SXSW website beginning at 12PM CT on March 17. Residency will be verified by billing address zip code.
SXSW registrants and music festival badge holders will also be permitted access, with a special allocation of space. No ticket is needed for this. The show is presented by Amazon Music at the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake (800 W. Riverside). Gates open at 11AM with music scheduled all day, beginning at 1:35PM. Sunny Sweeney will play at 6:45PM, just before Brooks at 8PM.
Brooks is currently continuing his massive three-year world tour, and has just released a brand-new single titled "Ask Me How I Know." On Thursday (May 16), he revealed he will play two headlining shows at RodeoHouston in 2018.
Taste of Country is hosting a new music showcase of our own in Austin on Friday (March 17) at 3PM. Newcomers Filmore and Walker Hayes will hit the stage. RSVP below for this free show. It's at Townsquare Media HQ at the Sunset Room, which is located at 310 E. 3rd St., across from the Convention Center in downtown Austin.
