Newcomer Greg Bates made his debut on the country scene with his Top 5 single 'Did It for the Girl' in 2012. While he considers 2012 "the best year of my life," he is looking forward to bigger and better things in 2013. Why stop at a Top 5 song when he's got an album on the horizon and tons of new fans to convert?

"2012 was an amazing year for me,” Bates, 25, said, according to GAC. "It was probably the best year of my life. I can’t say enough about how excited I am for 'Did It for the Girl.' It went top 5 this year."

That's just the tip of the iceberg, though.

Additionally, Bates embarked on his first tour alongside Brantley Gilbert in 2012, and living on the road tops his list of things to do as the calendar turns over.

"Looking ahead to 2013, it's gonna be a lot of fun to go out and play this song and have people sing it back to me," he said about bringing the song to even more folks in the live realm -- a noble and respectable goal for the new year.

In a reflective tone, Bates added, "It’s been an absolutely perfect year for me and I’m in a really good place heading into 2013."

Next on the docket? His debut album! Here's to hoping 2013 surpasses the perfection that was 2012 for Mr. Bates.
