Country singer Greg Bates is officially a married man. Bates wed singer-songwriter Shelley Skidmore on Saturday (May 2) in her hometown of Stanton, Ky. He shared the news with fans via a post to social media.

“I can’t believe I’m a husband,” Bates writes on Instagram, sharing a photo of the couple's wedding ceremony. “I love you @shelleyskidmore.”

His new bride is just as thrilled.

“Saturday was a fairytale,” Skidmore posted, along with another wedding photo showing the groom in a simple, tasteful blue suit and tie, while the bride wore a beautiful white wedding gown and let her long auburn hair cascade around her shoulders.

Bates signed with Republic Nashville in 2011 and released his self-titled debut EP in July of 2012. His debut single, “Did It for the Girl,” was released in April of that year, reaching the Top 20 on Billboard‘s U.S. Hot Country Songs chart and the Top 5 on the U.S. Country Airplay chart. Bates also made his Grand Ole Opry debut that same month. He released the playfull "Fill in the Blank" in January of 2013, but has since parted ways with Republic Nashville.

He and Skidmore got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2014, after he proposed to her in a chapel decorated with candles and a heart of rose petals. From the looks of a picture Skidmore posted to Instagram on Wednesday (May 6), the couple are currently enjoying a honeymoon by the beach.
