Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum Win at 2012 Teen Choice Awards
Hunter Hayes and Lady Antebellum both snagged a sweet surfboard award at last night's (June 22) 2012 Teen Choice Awards. Hayes was honored as the year's Choice Male Country Artist and Lady Antebellum took the award for Choice Country Group.
Unfortunately, neither Hayes nor Lady A were on hand to accept their awards at the Teen Choice Awards. The popular country music trio is in the midst of the international leg of their 2012 Own the Night tour. Last night Hayes was on stage in Twin Lakes, Wisc. during the awards show.
Both Lady Antebellum and Hayes were up against stiff competition for their awards. The 'We Own the Night' hitmakers faced off against the Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Rascal Flatts and Thompson Square for the Choice Country Group Award. Hayes was up against fellow Choice Male Country Artist nominees Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Scotty McCreery and Blake Shelton. In the end, both Hayes and Lady Antebellum scored enough fan votes to take home the prize.
"This is unbelievable! YOU guys are AWESOME! Thank you all SO much for voting! WE WON!! Seriously, you guys Rock!!" the 'Wanted' singer wrote on his Twitter page.
Taylor Swift also had a good night at the Teen Choice Awards, winning every award for which she was nominated. The 'Ours' hitmaker ended the night with honors for Choice Movie Voice for playing Audrey in 'The Lorax,' Choice Female Artist, Choice Single by a Female Artist for 'Eyes Open,' Choice Female Country Artist and Choice Country Song for 'Sparks Fly.'
