Jamie Lynn Spears is nothing if not earnest. That's a fact that she demonstrates once again with her new single, "Sleepover," but it also shows another side to the young artist.

The onetime Nickelodeon star has developed into a very credible country singer-songwriter over the course of the last few years. She released her debut single, the very personal ballad "How Could I Want More," in 2014, and made more inroads at country radio last year, when she co-wrote Jana Kramer's "I Got the Boy."

Now 25 and a married mother of an 8-year-old daughter, Spears is no-nonsense in "Sleepover," making it clear that she is looking for a long-term relationship and no games from a man. "This ain't no sleepover," she admonishes in the lyrics. She co-wrote the song with Liz Rose, Tina Parol and Corey Crowder.

But though the song has a serious underlying message, Spears keeps the tone light and playful with her delivery of the lyrics, which are set to a mid-tempo contemporary county groove.

"I like that taking me out, treating me like a lady / While I'm figuring out, do I wanna be your baby / Give me an old school dinner for two / And you like the Stones, well hey, me too / I ain't saying you ain't getting to me / Yeah, and I ain't saying I ain't feeling the heat / I ain't drunk and you ain't sober / Sure feels good here leaning on your shoulder / But this ain't no sleepover," she sings in the chorus.

“‘Sleepover’ has really set the tone for my next chapter as an artist,” Spears says in a press release.“Sometimes I forget that I’m only 25 years old so I wanted to embrace that. We as women can be mothers and wives, but we can still be confident, sexy and flirty. ‘Sleepover’ really helped me understand that side of me more.”

Jamie Lynn Spears, "Sleepover" Lyrics

"You don't know me well enough to see me with my makeup off / Yeah, but I'd bet you'd like my hair all messed up / If you can get through the night without my kiss / Then call me in the morning saying you missed me / When you wake up, maybe we could give this another shot."

Chorus:

"I like that taking me out, treating me like a lady / While I'm figuring out, do I wanna be your baby / Give me an old school dinner for two / And you like the Stones, well hey, me too / I ain't saying you ain't getting to me / Yeah, and I ain't saying I ain't feeling the heat / I ain't drunk and you ain't sober / Sure feels good here leaning on your shoulder / But this ain't no sleepover."

"I think love should take it slow / It's good to have somewhere to go / But wait, is this electric / If we go too fast, then we might wreck it."

Chorus:

"'Cause I like taking me out, treating me like a lady / While I'm trying to figure out do I want to be your baby / Give me that front porch goodnight kiss / Give me that look in your eyes like this / I ain't saying you ain't getting to me / Yeah, and I ain't saying I ain't feeling the heat / I ain't drunk and you ain't sober / Sure feels good here leaning on your shoulder / But this ain't no sleepover."
