Jennifer Nettles has a lot to be excited about in 2016, and one thing she's particularly pumped about is her forthcoming album, Playing With Fire. Recently, the blonde beauty stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio and opened up about the album and all of its fiery mentions.

Nettles' new album doesn't have a release date yet, but she says it'll drop sometime in the spring (April or May). She's already given fans a little taste of the record with its first single, "Unlove You" — a song she's just as eager about as the album's other tracks.

“I’m excited for fans to get to hear this album because I feel like in comparison to That Girl, and That Girl was the right record at the right time for me. But I recorded it when I had a 5-month-old child and it was a very specific time in my life," Nettles explains. "Each record is always a marking of that. In comparison, this album Playing With Fire, I think I have a lot to say. I’ve gone through such a journey over the past three years and I think I have been forged in the fire and the vulnerability that comes with being a mom and being a new mom and specifically for me just the challenges that presented have left me embolden and brave.”

She's showing just how "embolden and brave" she is with mentions of the word "fire" on the record.

“This record has a lot of that fire on it … There are lots of fire references in a lot of the songs which really for me is about transformation and I do feel transformed. So I’m excited for people to get to hear a lot of that on this record."

While you continue to patiently wait for Playing With Fire, you can find Nettles on the CMT Next Women of Country Tour, which has tour dates through late April. She's heating up the stage along with Brandy ClarkLindsay Ell and Tara Thompson. Fans can purchase "Unlove You" on iTunes.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
