No wonder country singer Josh Turner is idolized by 'American Idol' Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery, who makes no bones about the fact that he wants to emulate Turner's Christian lifestyle. According to All Access, the class act that is Turner raised a whopping $150,000 on Thursday, July 14 with his charity show, 'After the Storm: Coming Together Benefit Concert With Josh Turner.'

The benefit concert was put on expressly for the students and the schools located in Ringgold, Ga. A nasty tornado tore through the region on April 27, damaging 50 percent of the town's business, homes and places of worship, killing nine residents, two of which were Ringgold high school students.

Additionally, Ringgold Middle School suffered structural damage, which was covered by insurance, but years of accumulated band and athletic equipment was damaged; this gear was not protected by a policy nor is it replaceable.

Rather than let the school's extracurricular activities and programs fall by the wayside in wake of the tornado and its damage, Turner decided to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from this benefit concert to keeping the programs intact and alive. The $150,000 sum will be split evenly among both the athletics and arts programs.

Before his performance, the 'Your Man' singer took a tour of the facilities. He then dedicated the song 'The Answer' to the two Ringgold residents who lost their lives due to this natural disaster.

A huge thumbs up and a high five to Turner for raising a substantial amount of funds to keep Ringgold's school programs going strong. We're sure the citizens of Ringgold and the people of Georgia as a whole consider you a modern day folk hero because of your noble and considerate actions. Music education programs are critical to Turner and he even launched his own Josh Turner Scholarship Fund.
