If anyone knows his fans, it’s Kip Moore. And instinctively, he knows how bad his loyal fans are craving a brand-new album. But from the sounds of it, they might need to wait just a little bit longer.

“I thought it was finished,” Moore tells Taste of Country about his upcoming fourth studio album. “But the thing is that I never stopped writing, and now I have fallen in love with some new stuff that I have written.”

Indeed, while the multi-platinum singer-songwriter says that he had already recorded 13 tracks for the new project, he is now planning to go back to the studio to track three more songs. From there, he will then see which ones are meant to make the ultimate cut.

“I’m going to go see if they are as special as I think they are,” Moore says, with a smile; speaking from his tour bus just hours before his sold-out show in Chicago as part of his recent Bud Light Dive Bar Tour.

Of course, it’s been a longstanding tradition for Moore to second-guess himself when it comes to albums.

“There are going to be days when you feel you have made the greatest project and then there will be days that you feel like it’s a big piece of shit,” laughs Moore, who just released his newest single “She’s Mine.”

That’s just being honest. You go back and forth and you have those battles within and you try to go and trust your initial gut," he elaborates." I mean, I’ve never been able to step away and know that these are exactly the songs I should have done. There have always been songs that I left off that I later thought, were those the songs I should have put on?”

No matter what ultimately ends up on his next album, Moore says he knows that this album will contain some of the deepest content matter that he has ever covered.

“I think you can hear the growth I have gone through in my own life from one record to the next,” concludes Moore, who will kick off the third leg of his Room to Spare: Acoustic Tour this fall. “I’ll never be that guy that is going to sing about the same thing on any record. I’m living a life that I never… I mean, I did dream it up, but I could never truly wrap my head around how truly crazy it would be and all the things I would get to see and be a part of.”

Moore suddenly looks down at his laced up boots, and continues.

“My soul is always open and I think that you hear a lot of questions on this record,” he says quietly, looking up with an iconic sly smile. “Through many of these songs, I’m actually going to give you the epiphanies that I’m having and the answers that I have discovered...if you listen close enough.”
