Here’s Why Kurt Russell + Goldie Hawn Love Leaving L.A. for Their Colorado Home
It's been 40 years since Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn built a home in Colorado, which sits on 70 acres in Old Snowmass, but these days they find themselves out there more and more.
Why Did Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Move Out of Hollywood?
According to People, the reason for the transition is simple — they like the lifestyle better.
"I don't dislike L.A.," Russell tells the publication. "It's just not my preference in terms of how I like to live."
The actor also admits that Old Snowmass feels like home because "everybody who lives there, they live there because they want to."
"I can't say that about L.A." he adds.
Kurt Russell's Real Life Mirrors That of His Character in The Madison
Russell stars in the new Taylor Sheridan project The Madison alongside Michelle Pfeiffer. His character Preston Clyburn also loves the great outdoors. In fact, he does everything he can to convince his wife Stacy (Pfeiffer) to leave New York City and make his getaway cabin in Montana their primary residence.
Similarly, the actor has fallen in love with the rugged outdoors, denying that Colorado has been a way for him to flee L.A.
"I wasn't escaping," he says in regard to rumors about him evading Hollywood. "I was just living where I live."
Hawn is a fan of their ranch as well. In fact, it's where they chose to raise their family — which means something to Russell who grew up in rural Maine.
"It was like the way I grew up in Maine," he says of raising kids in Colorado. "I supposed once you're exposed to that kind of thing, it's always home."
"Everything we did there in terms of what we built and what we have in terms of being able to offer in life for our children, I'm really, really happy that we were able to do that."
Being in a secluded area isn't always easy, however.
"There are difficulties to it, but there are also great rewards to it," he explains. "I'm just more comfortable there."
Russell is expected to return for season two of The Madison. Although the new installment has already been filmed, a premiere date has yet to be announced.
