Little Big Town’s ‘Happy People’ Video Will Put a Smile on Your Face
Little Big Town capture joy in their "Happy People" video, featuring a wide array of faces from young to old, black to white, nearly all shapes and sizes. The group kept it simple for the video, bringing everyone into a studio to goof around and show off their smiles for the camera — and it works.
Whether it’s a group of kids dancing or a sweet older couple who still make each other smile, each video-portrait displays what true happiness looks like, which is a perfect match for the song’s uplifting message. The singers appear individually and together singing the lyrics in the same portrait-style setup, occasionally shown just smiling like everyone else. What results is a unifying and positive expression refreshing among the many difficult and troubling circumstances of the world today.
Singer Kimberly Schlapman's girls — Daisy and recently-adopted baby Dolly — also appear in the clip.
“Happy People” was written by Lori McKenna and Hailey Whitters and serves as the second single from Little Big Town's most recent record, The Breaker, released in February. It follows the hit "Better Man," which was notably written by Taylor Swift.
The foursome are currently in the middle of a residency at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and just launched a coinciding line of merchandise ranging from home goods to jewelry called Boondocks. They’ve been keeping busy when off the road as well, having recently appeared on Sesame Street as well as sung the National Anthem at a Nashville Predators playoff game.
