Maddie and Tae vs. Dan + Shay – The Showdown

If there's ever been an artist who fought for a Showdown win, it's newcomers Maddie & Tae. They spent the last two days tweeting and urging friends and fans to push their debut single 'Girl in a Country Song' to the next round of this song battle -- and it worked. By the slimmest of margins they topped Hunter Hayes and 'Tattoo.'

It's a long road to the Showdown Hall of Fame, and things will get trickier today and Thursday as the newcomers square off against friends and fellow country duo Dan + Shay. 'Show You Off' is back after falling to Brantley Gilbert's new song in May. This promises to be as close of a battle as you can get.

If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete.
