Maddie and Tae ‘Overwhelmed’ by Joy at St. Jude
Maddie and Tae are all about spreading positivity and joy through their music, but when they visited St. Jude recently, they got to experience that themselves in an even more powerful way. The duo got to tour the hospital for the first time, and Maddie says even just stepping into the building was a special experience.
“The second we walked in here today I was overwhelmed with how joyful this building is,” she remembers during a media session at St. Jude in January. “Every person in this organization works so hard to make sure that it feels homey, and it feels normal."
Advocating for St. Jude is especially personal for the singer/songwriters, as both have recently lost loved ones to cancer.

“Today is a special day for us,” Maddie said. “Seeing those loses, we know that there are still people fighting to cure this disease and there are doctors and researchers here working endless hours to cure everything. It’s been a really peaceful experience, knowing that it’s not forgotten and it’s still a priority — and it’s a huge priority at St. Jude.”
The duo said it was easy to relate to the kids being only 21 themselves. Playing Uno with them was especially fun. Maddie and Tae even play games on their tour bus.
“There’s really not much partying, it’s just like, Uno tournaments and Apples to Apples,” Maddie explained.
Though the ladies didn’t give any official info on when fans would be hearing new music, they tentatively expect to have a single out toward the end of February, they shared.
On Feb. 16-17, Taste of Country will join 15 Townsquare Media stations in support of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This two-day web and radiothon aims to raise money and awareness for the world class research and treatment facility in Memphis, Tenn. Now in its fourth year, this collaborative effort has raised nearly $3.9 million. Country radio has helped raise more than $700 million during 27 years worth of Country Cares radiothons. The mission is simple: raise money, save lives.
