At 46, Martina McBride is healthy, beautiful and strong. The singer, wife and mother of three--who showed off her bikini body on the cover of Shape Magazine in 2009--opened up about the fitness routine she uses to stay healthy.

"It varies throughout year depending on my motivation," McBride tells Shape.com, "I just took a little break so right now I’m starting again a couple of times a week doing cardio and weight training. I do yoga, lunges, crunches, things like that for 40 minutes twice a week." She combines the weight work with cardio work on the elliptical or treadmill.  "If it’s a nice day I like to walk outside around Radnor Lake [in Nashville]."

Like most any fitness expert could tell you, it's not all about exercise. What you put into your body is just as important. Like most who struggle to eat healthy, McBride has her 'on' days and her 'off' days. "Some days I do well and I eat really healthfully, but I don’t think we should deprive ourselves of anything, so some days I indulge and give in to cravings," says the singer. "I believe everything in moderation." Her favorite occasional indulgence? A cheeseburger and fries.

One meal she won't scrimp on is breakfast. "Breakfast is important. I have two hard-boiled or scrambled eggs with whole-wheat toast and try to get some fruit in there." Between mealtimes, the 'I'm Gonna Love You Through It' singer keeps nutritious fare around the house to snack on. "I always have apples and fruit in the house," says McBride. "It’s easier to eat something healthy if it’s within reach. I also have yogurt, cheese and crackers, and raw almonds."

Like most ladies, she's got her favorite exercises--and her least favorite. "I’m not fond of crunches or lunges, but I do them anyway because I do see results," she says. "For me it’s about being fit and staying healthy more than anything else."
