Miley Cyrus Vows to Care for Late ‘Voice’ Star Janice Freeman’s Daughter
Miley Cyrus posted a personal video and letter to the late The Voice contestantJanice Freeman.with a touching note pledging to care for the singer's young daughter she left behind.
Freeman died at age 33 of an extreme case of pneumonia, which caused a blood clot to travel to her heart. Her husband performed CPR until an ambulance arrived and took her to a local hospital, where she passed on March 2. Along with her spouse, she left her
Prior to The Voice, Freeman had already beaten cervical cancer and was living with lupus. Freeman was on Cyrus' team and made it to the top 11. The two became fast friends, which went all the way to turning into "family," according to Cyrus. That said, it comes as no surprise that Cyrus refers to Freeman's daughter as her "bsby sister."
"To hug you one more time @janicefreeman .... I made a promise to you here on earth and will keep that promise as you watch from heaven . To take care of your precious little girl , my baby sister . To shine light on your husband and mother when days are dark ! I love you," Cyrus captioned the Instagram video.
It's not entirely clear what steps exactly Cyrus will be taking to care for Freeman's daughter, but given that Cyrus has had a personal interest in the singer's career even beyond The Voice, we're sure she will make good on her promise.
On March 4, Cyrus shared a picture of her and Freeman in matching leopard print jumpsuits captioning her initial emotions after learning of her passing. "I miss you so much it hurts.," she wrote. "So much pain and no one would ever notice because of the smile and joy you constantly radiated."
Freeman was open about her series of health plights, revealing in her blind audition that she had overcome cancer. She later opened up about her battles with meningitis and lupus. In a statement announcing her death, a representative from Freeman's team called her a "survivor and fighter" and a "beautiful force in this world."
