In the wake of Hurricane Helene's destructive path, Morgan Wallen is doing everything he can to hit affected areas in his home state.

The singer recently made a trip to Greene County, Tenn. — just a couple hours north of hard-hit Asheville, N.C. — to visit with families affected by the storms. One of the homes he visited belongs to Stephen and Tallie Gregg, according to local radio station WGRV.

The Greggs live near the Nolichuckey River, which flooded in the hurricane, devastating their home and rising "within inches" of the ceiling, WGRV reports. The house was stripped down to the studs as part of repair efforts.

While visiting the home, Wallen left a personal touch to remind its residents of the resilience they showed in response to the storm. He wrote a Bible verse — Psalms 40:2, to be exact — on the studs of the home.

"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand," that passage reads.

Elsewhere during his trip to Greene County, Wallen spoke to other flooding victims, saying he was doing his best to raise money and awareness about the ongoing wreckage and work to be done to restore the area.

Wallen — who hails from Sneedville, Tenn., nearby Knoxville — has been vocal about his commitment to helping the region recover from Hurricane Helene. Late last month, he sent a $500,000 donation to the Red Cross.
