ABC Renews ‘Nashville’ for Second Season
It was a busy couple days for TV networks, which were slashing their schedules, canceling shows and ordering pilots while preparing for the upfronts. ABC's 'Nashville,' which follows the lives of two country signers (one established and one up-and-comer), has been renewed for a second season.
Series star Hayden Panettiere, who plays country ingenue Juliette Barnes to Connie Britton's veteran Rayna James, tweeted her excitement about the show's renewal and her chance to sink her teeth into her character for another season.
She posted: "NASHVILLE SEASON 2!!!! I've finally finished jumping up and down on the bed with excitement! Ahhhh!!!"
The actress has reason to be exited, since the show's fate was not certain. The series was reportedly in jeopardy, with the threat of cancelation looming large since it opened to healthy ratings but saw subsequent dips throughout its debut season. Still, the network has faith in the show and is giving it the greenlight for a second season.
So there will be plenty more musical drama unfolding on the small screen and likely more soundtracks.
Tune into the Season 1 finale, where Brad Paisley makes a guest appearance. The episode airs May 22. Be sure to tune in next season, as well.
