Party in the Pines Festival Canceled
Florida's Party in the Pines Festival has been canceled for 2018 due to "circumstances beyond our control," according to organizers.
Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, Kip Moore and Luke Combs were among the scheduled acts for the two-day festival at Bienville Plantation in White Springs, Fla. A message on Twitter apologizes to supporters and team members who worked to bring the Party in the Pines festival back for a second year.
"We are working on a plan to compensate ticket holders and sponsors. Details will be posted to our website ... and social media pages soon," it reads.
The festival was scheduled for Oct. 19-20, but Hurricane Michael — which hit the Florida panhandle on Wednesday — is not thought to be a factor. Dan + Shay, Granger Smith, the Cadillac Three, Lindsay Ell, Cassadee Pope and Drew Baldridge were also on the bill. Robert Morey, the owner of Bienville Plantation, told the Lake City Reporter that there were many forces beyond their control, and that while they intend to refund sponsors and fans, "all our funds are held by the artists' agency."
"We beg for understanding," he told the newspaper without elaborating. He did say he's not optimistic about the festival returning in 2019.
There were just a few comments on Twitter about the cancelation, with most people expressing disappointment that they wouldn't get to see a favorite artist and wondering how and when they'll get their money back. The festival was actively being promoted as of Monday.
