Phil Vassar Teams With Lonestar for New Christmas Song, ‘Not So Silent Night’ [Exclusive Premiere]
Two of the biggest country acts of the last several decades are coming together for a new Christmas song and tour. Phil Vassar and Lonestar have joined forces for a new song titled "Not So Silent Night," and they have announced the cities and dates for an upcoming tour of the same name.
"Not So Silent Night" finds the musicians getting their retro groove on with a swinging jazz vibe, with Vassar and Lonestar singer Richie McDonald trading vocals to describe a fun holiday party: "Grab yourself a cup, fill it up, turn the music up / Get your Christmas spirit on right / It's gonna be a not so silent night."
The single is set to drop on Friday (Nov. 2), but Taste of Country readers get to hear it early in this exclusive. Proceeds from the single will benefit the Salvation Army.

Lonestar and Vassar will also hit the road for the 13-date Not So Silent Night Tour, which launches in Biloxi, Miss., on Nov. 30. The shows will consist of "Christmas standards, non-traditional holiday tunes as well as the artists’ hits," according to a press release. One fan in each city will be chosen to join the musicians onstage for a special Christmas collaboration, the details of which are to be announced. There are also special VIP experiences available that include a meet and greet with Vassar and Lonestar, a signed poster and a special keepsake. The Salvation Army's red kettles will be present at all of the concert venues.
“I've known these guys forever, and we're going to have a blast on the road performing for our fans," Vassar says of Lonestar. "It's even more meaningful that we're getting into the Christmas spirit and giving back to the Salvation Army — that's what it's all about."
Vassar released his self-titled debut album in 2000, and his hits include "Just Another Day in Paradise," "Six-Pack Summer," "That's When I Love You," "Love Is a Beautiful Thing" and more. Lonestar notched a string of hit singles in the '90s and 2000s that include "Amazed," "What About Now," "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In" and others.
