Army Wife’s Sweet Request Leads RaeLynn to Write Heartbreaking Song ‘Camo’ [Listen]
As a military wife herself, RaeLynn knows what it's like to find normalcy far away from the one you love. So when approached by a fellow Army wife who asked her to write a song about their sometimes painful lives, RaeLynn picked up a pen and wrote "Camo."
"I had a sweet army wife come up to me at one of my shows and ask me to write a song for spouses in the military," the country singer writes on social media. "So here you go Stacy. Thank you to every person in this country that has a loved one that serves, your service of encouragement is just as important.
With just her guitar to accompany her, RaeLynn sings of the sad reality of being a military wife: "I don’t get to dance with him on the weekend / Call him up for no good reason / Truth is I don’t even get to see him when he’s in camo."
She's visibly emotional as she sings, perhaps thinking of husband Josh, who made the life-changing decision to enlist in the military in 2017. RaeLynn has continued to stay strong despite her hubby's absence, continuing life out on the road and releasing empowering songs such as "Queens Don’t."
