The fact that song No. 38 on the Top 100 Country Songs list has been retread more times than a good pair of cowboy boots shouldn't hold it back. Roger Miller was the first to record 'King of the Road,' and it was a smash.

This song was a No. 1 country hit and a Top 5 crossover. George Strait, Randy Travis, R.E.M. and Alvin and the Chipmunks are just a few artists who have called themselves 'King of the Road.' The plot -- a homeless man with a roseate demeanor -- is almost lost in the country song's easy groove.
